History of the Hamilton Township

Hamilton, a township incorporated through legislation by the New Jersey Legislature on April 11 1842 is situated in Mercer County within the state of New Jersey.

Origin of Name

The township gets its name from Hamilton Square village. Its believed that this name pays tribute to Alexander Hamilton, an statesman and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States.
