Hamilton Township is located in Mercer County, New Jersey.  We claim that Hamilton is in the perfect location since it belongs to the New York metropolitan area but in the same time it borders the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Taking that into consideration, Hamilton Township is ideal for people who want to work in the urban city but live somewhere relaxing and peaceful. Over 87 thousand people are living in this township that is right next to the town of Trenton, the state’s capital.  That makes Hamilton state’s 9th biggest town judging by population. However, in 2006 it was ranked eighteenth safest city in the whole United States.  It represents a place for raising a family while also maintaining a career thanks to the position on the map.  Even though it may be idyllic and peaceful, there is quite a lot of things you could do in Hamilton Township in New Jersey.


For all active individuals and families or nature enthusiasts, Hamilton is the place to be. It is a home to one of the largest recreational parks in the state and a long list of small recreational parks. Parks are appreciated and well maintained in Hamilton because they have a major impact on the daily lives of people as well as on the overall visual appearance of the township.

The Veterans Park is 350 acres, and it is a total ownership of Hamilton Township. Mercer County Park borders the town and takes up 2500 acres which are shared with Hamilton Township. Mercer County Park involved Mercer Lake which is significant for the fact that it is one of the biggest artificial lakes in the state. The lake was built in purpose of preventing big floods in Trenton, the capital of the state. 

A unique location in Hamilton is The Grounds for Sculpture. It is a 42-acre park which contains more than 200 sculptures, fountains and other water features, gardens, etc. The park was built with the purpose of blending art with nature and boost appreciation of sculpture. 

Hamilton also houses famous Sayen Park Botanical Garden. The park is an ultimate family activity point of interest, and it is open from dusk till dawn and free of charge. The botanical garden was originally private home and land of Fredrick Sayen. It is built in Victorian and Arts and Craft style. 


Except for parks, Hamilton offers its residents a few significant annual events and gatherings. These events attract hundreds of visitors from bordering communities as well and boost the economy of the township.

Azalea Festival is held annually to celebrate Mother’s Day. Festival takes place in Sayen Botanical Gardens, and it offers several family activities, short classes for children and diverse musical entertainment.

Another popular event is Independence day Fireworks and concerts. Even hosts different performers from various music genres and visitors often come to witness an amazing fireworks display.

Winter Wonderland is by far the most adored annual event among residents and visitors of Hamilton, New Jersey.  Each year the organizers make sure there are plenty activities for children and parents. Families usually enjoy a petting zoo, holiday express train, light ceremony and musical entertainment.
