Plays in the Park
Plays in the park is a one of a kind organization that represents more than 50 years of the unparalleled initiative, creative excellence, and community spirit. 52 years ago, a group of devoted neighborhood theater volunteers enthusiastically looked for a place to perform plays during the summer. Plays in the park have been praised for the quality of its theatrical creations. The lighting and costume designs of every show are based on the Broadway originals modified and recreated by working experts.
Thomas Edison Center
The goal of the Thomas Edison Center is to honor the memory of Thomas Alva Edison and teach the public about him, his notable accomplishments, and his massive impact on current study and development. Situated within Edison State Park, the Edison Center at Menlo Park is comprised of the Edison Memorial Tower and a museum and education center dedicated to Thomas Edison’s era of enormous creativity. The Center lies within the Edison National Park, right alongside the entry into a nature trail that is surprisingly isolated as trains speed along the nearby Middlesex Avenue. The tiny museum is a menagerie of antique phonographs, bulbs and other pieces of history from when Edison set up shop.
The 14-foot light post, covering a quartz and ceramic monolith, is represented all over the place in Edison, painted on police vehicles, welcome signs and stained glass windows at the Edison train station. Edison dropped its original name, Raritan Township, in the 1950s and was named after its most notable resident, even though he only lived in the for eight short years.

Oak Tree Pond is the place of the Battle of Short Hills, a lesser conflict of the American Revolutionary War and whose transformation into a park closed a real estate development controversy.
Roosevelt Park, situated in between Parsonage Road and the Route 1, west of the Mall, covers 88 hectares of land, including the 3.2 hectares Roosevelt Lake.
